Must read

Professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood has expressed his approval of Brooks Koepka’s comeback to the PGA Tour and mentioned that the LIV Golf organization has not approached him during this postseason period.

Koepka, who recently left the Saudi-backed league, has decided to rejoin the PGA Tour and is set to make his return at the Farmers Insurance Open next week, providing a significant boost to the tour.

Now, LIV Golf faces the challenge of retaining other key players, with Patrick Reed hinting at a possible return to the PGA Tour. Fleetwood, currently ranked world No. 3, praised the PGA Tour’s competitiveness and the lucrative events it offers, emphasizing his gratitude for being able to participate.

Regarding Koepka’s return, Fleetwood stated that it is a positive development for the PGA Tour and highlighted the uncertainty surrounding future decisions. The English golfer, who earned $10 million for his victory at the Tour Championships, is now aiming for his first Major win, emphasizing the importance of aligning goals and dreams with one’s playing environment.

LIV Golf, supported by Newcastle’s Public Investment Fund, made substantial investments in previous seasons, including multimillion-dollar deals with Koepka and Jon Rahm. This year, the organization has signed lesser-known players like Victor Perez, Laurie Canter, Thomas Detrie, Elvis Smylie, and Ben An, as well as wildcard entry Anthony Kim.

Fleetwood, a former Nike ambassador, mentioned that LIV Golf has not pursued him in recent discussions, acknowledging the shifting landscape in professional golf. Meanwhile, his Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry praised Koepka’s decision to return to the PGA Tour, foreseeing increased participation in smaller events.

Lowry also shared his reflections on a recent tournament disappointment, emphasizing the need to move past setbacks and focus on future performances.
