Prince Andrew’s former royal protection officer is reportedly under investigation by the Metropolitan Police for allegedly attempting to gather damaging information about Virginia Giuffre.
This development follows previous revelations that Prince Andrew was involved in a smear campaign against his accuser, leading him to renounce his royal titles, including Duke of York, in a bid to distance himself from the scandal surrounding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Despite vehemently denying any sexual involvement with Virginia, who passed away earlier this year, Prince Andrew now faces scrutiny as two Met Police officers visited the home of his ex-protection official in South East London. The officer in question, a seasoned member of the elite SO14 Royalty Protection Group, had a long career working with the Royal Family.
Allegations emerged that Prince Andrew had requested his Met bodyguard to investigate Virginia, sharing personal details such as her date of birth and social security number. However, there is no evidence that the officer complied with this request.
Further revelations suggest that Prince Andrew corresponded with the late Queen’s press secretary, Ed Perkins, regarding Virginia’s supposed criminal record, a claim refuted by her family. They are demanding an investigation into how Prince Andrew obtained such private information.
The Metropolitan Police has not provided detailed comments but stated they are actively examining the allegations. The Mirror has reached out to the Met Police for further clarification on the matter.
