Britons may experience a surprise surge of warmth in the upcoming month, as meteorologists anticipate an Indian Summer bringing temperatures of up to 18C in various parts of England. According to recent weather charts from WXCharts, Bonfire Night on November 5 could resemble late September rather than early winter, especially in East Anglia. Regions like Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex are expected to enjoy mild weather, with temperatures reaching 18C in towns such as Norwich, Chelmsford, Colchester, and Ipswich. Coastal areas nearby could also see temperatures ranging from 15C to 17C.
Moving inland, areas like Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, and London are predicted to hit 17C, while central and eastern England are likely to remain warmer than the western parts. In contrast, Cornwall and Devon may experience temperatures between 13C and 15C. The Midlands, Yorkshire, and the majority of the north-east are expected to stay in the mid-teens, with the north-west being slightly cooler – around 14C in Merseyside and Lancashire, dropping to approximately 10C in Cumbria.
The Met Office’s extended weather outlook from October 30 to November 8 suggests that temperatures will be “normal or slightly above average for this time of year.” The forecast indicates that the UK is likely to face a period of unsettled weather, with heavy rain and strong winds due to a nearby area of low pressure. The western regions are expected to receive the highest rainfall totals.
Looking ahead into November, the weather across the UK is expected to be dominated by low-pressure systems, leading to changeable and occasionally unsettled conditions with the possibility of heavy rain and strong winds in certain areas. However, brief periods of drier and sunnier weather may occur between these systems. Temperatures are forecasted to remain around average or slightly higher for the season.
