“Enthusiastic Tennis Fan Ejected from Australian Open”

Must read

A fervent supporter of tennis player Emma Raducanu, who gained online fame for his enthusiastic backing, was ejected from the Australian Open for disruptive behavior. James Bray drew attention when Raducanu acknowledged him after her match victory. Throughout the game, Bray, donning an ‘Australia’ tank top, affectionately referred to Raducanu as ‘Raddo’. Raducanu publicly thanked him for his support and invited him to attend future matches.

Despite his newfound celebrity status, Bray’s exuberance crossed the line during Friday’s matches at the Rod Laver Arena while cheering for Alex de Minaur. His vocal support was deemed excessive, leading to his removal from the venue and a 24-hour ban, along with a fine of $700.

Bray documented the incident on his Instagram story, showing police officers directing him to leave the premises. Despite the situation, he sarcastically remarked on being kicked out for his enthusiasm. Bray’s subsequent removal from the tournament grounds left him feeling perplexed and disappointed, given his respectful cheering for the players.

Tennis Australia confirmed that Bray had been warned multiple times before being escorted out due to disruptive behavior that disturbed other spectators. The Victoria Police also intervened, noting that 21 individuals were evicted from the event for various behavioral incidents, emphasizing the overall positive crowd conduct at the Australian Open.

The incident underscores the importance of maintaining decorum and respect at sporting events to ensure an enjoyable experience for all attendees.
