Must read

Superdrug is set to expand its presence by opening 30 new stores in various locations this year, leading to the creation of approximately 600 job opportunities. Among the new store locations in England are White Rose Leeds, Crawley, Waterlooville Retail Park, Newport Retail Park, and Isle of Wight. Additionally, Superdrug will introduce new stores in Scotland, including Dundee Gallagher Retail Park, Kilmarnock Retail Park, East Kilbride, Strathkelvin Retail Park, Linwood Phoenix Retail Park, and Cwmbran Retail Park in Wales.

The upcoming stores will feature Superdrug Beauty Studios offering services like ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading. In addition to new store openings, Superdrug also plans to refurbish 60 existing stores throughout the year. Currently, the health and beauty retailer operates over 780 shops across the UK and Ireland.

Highlighting the strong customer demand, Superdrug executives expressed their commitment to investing in large-format destination stores and retail park locations. Clare Jennings, the property director at Superdrug, emphasized the company’s focus on providing trusted expertise, products, and services in welcoming spaces within local communities.

The expansion initiative aims not only to increase the company’s footprint but also to create inclusive destinations that offer beauty, healthcare, and affordable treatments under one roof. By enhancing their physical retail experience, Superdrug intends to cater to customer needs and preferences while generating job opportunities and long-term career prospects for employees.

In a related development, M&S has unveiled plans to identify 500 new store locations to expand its food business by doubling its current size. Areas without an M&S presence, such as Hove, Marlborough, and Wallingford, are among the targeted locations for new store openings. M&S is particularly interested in large sites to accommodate a wider range of food offerings, aiming for an average store size of 18,000 square feet.

To meet the growing demand for its food products, M&S is working on opening or renewing 20 stores by the end of the financial year, leading to the creation of 800 new jobs. The supermarket chain aims to enhance its food store offerings to attract more customers and provide a comprehensive shopping experience.
