“Trump Sets Ultimatum for Ukraine Peace Deal Approval”

Must read

During a recent exchange, Donald Trump conveyed to Volodymyr Zelensky that he must approve of the proposed peace plan or face continued conflict with Russia, showcasing a blunt response to Ukraine’s apprehensions.

In response to a reporter’s inquiry today regarding Zelensky’s stance on the peace deal aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict, Trump asserted that Zelensky would need to accept the plan. Trump emphasized, “He’ll have to like it, and if he doesn’t, then they should just continue fighting, I suppose. At some point, he will have to come to terms with something. You remember in the Oval Office, not too long ago, I mentioned ‘You don’t have the cards’.”

Trump specified that next Thursday would be an “acceptable” deadline for Zelensky to sign the 28-point peace agreement. However, Zelensky has expressed concerns that agreeing to the plan would compromise Ukraine’s freedom, dignity, and justice.

Leaked details of the plan suggest provisions including Ukraine relinquishing territories in the eastern Donestsk region, downsizing its military forces, and committing to refrain from joining NATO.

Zelensky, however, affirmed, “I will present arguments, I will persuade, I will propose alternatives.”

The proposed deal involves talks between Washington and Moscow and appears to lean favorably towards Russia. As per the terms, Ukraine’s military strength would be reduced from approximately 880,000 troops to 600,000, with a stipulation against NATO membership.

Furthermore, the plan emphasizes the affirmation of Ukraine’s sovereignty and mandates holding elections within the country within 100 days.

Additionally, the 28-point plan includes a dialogue between Russia and NATO to address security concerns, coupled with an expectation that Russia will refrain from invading neighboring nations.
