A tragic incident unfolded at a Christmas tree lighting event in the US, resulting in the death of a 14-year-old child and multiple teenagers being shot. Chaos erupted during Chicago’s official Christmas light ceremony when around 300 young individuals stormed the event, leading to several gunshots being fired. Shortly after, a second shooting occurred, injuring two victims.
The 14-year-old boy sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he tragically passed away. Another victim, an 18-year-old male, suffered a serious leg injury from a gunshot wound and was hospitalized. The shootings occurred around 10:40 pm.
Prior to this, a group of people stormed a pavement near the Chicago Theater at 9:50 pm. Gunshots were heard, prompting the group to disperse. Seven individuals, aged between 13 and 17, were found with gunshot wounds near State and Randolph streets. Additionally, multiple police officers were attacked and injured during the chaos.
Reports indicate that 300 juveniles were rioting, with at least five victims shot, one critically injured. Some officers were also assaulted with mace and stun guns. A reporter confirmed that the youngest victim, a 13-year-old girl, was shot in the leg but is in stable condition.
