An 81-year-old pilot tragically lost his life in a light aircraft crash in Scotland. The incident occurred near a gliding center close to Kinross, where the man was declared deceased. Fortunately, no other individuals were harmed, and his family has been notified.
Authorities from Police Scotland have initiated an investigation into the crash, which will be handled by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. The incident was reported around 1.40pm on Monday, following the crash at an airfield near Scotlandwell, Kinross.
Emergency services, including firefighters, paramedics, and police, responded to the scene at the Scottish Gliding Centre in Scotlandwell shortly before 2 pm. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service received a distress call at 1.48pm reporting the aircraft crash, with teams dispatched from Fife and Dundee.
The Scotland Ambulance Service also dispatched paramedics to the crash site in Portmoak, Kinross, following a call received at 1.40pm. The community and local politicians have expressed sorrow over the incident, with Pete Wishart, MP for Perth and Kinross-shire, and Jim Fairlie, MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, acknowledging the gravity of the situation and thanking the emergency responders for their prompt actions.
