Ikea has rolled out a new discount program for thousands of employees across the UK. Education and healthcare workers are now eligible for a 6% discount at Ikea stores, thanks to a collaboration with savings platforms Discounts for Teachers and Health Service Discounts.
Previously, members could enjoy a 4% discount on Ikea’s website, but the enhanced offer now extends to in-store purchases as well. To avail of the discount, shoppers must log into the designated app and scan their code during checkout.
Jen Haslam, Chief Revenue Officer at Discounts for Teachers and Health Service Discounts, expressed pride in offering this Ikea discount to members, recognizing the vital role played by teachers and healthcare workers in society. The extension of savings to in-store transactions provides members with greater flexibility and choice to benefit from regular discounts.
Nikos Koskinas, Retail Partnerships Manager at Discounts for Teachers and Health Service Discounts, highlighted the popularity of Ikea among members and emphasized the value of providing exclusive savings both online and in stores. The partnership underscores a commitment to securing valuable deals that support education and healthcare professionals nationwide.
In a related development, Ikea has introduced a new £2 click and collect fee for online orders picked up at its stores. However, members of the Family loyalty scheme can continue to utilize this service free of charge. Additionally, customers can collect orders from select Tesco car parks, DPD, or locker pick-up points, although a fee applies for orders below a certain threshold.
For Ikea Family members, click and collect from Tesco or self-serve lockers is complimentary for purchases of £100 or more, or £60 at DPD points. Click and collect fees range from £2 to £5.
An Ikea spokesperson emphasized the brand’s commitment to transparent pricing and service expansion to enhance customer convenience. To ensure financial sustainability, a £2 click and collect fee has been introduced for non-IKEA Family members, while IKEA Family members enjoy free collection across all click and collect options.
