One of the locations highlighted is Kenya, where tourism has surged significantly post-Covid. The country aims to attract 3 million visitors this year, with concerns raised about overtourism in Mombasa due to depleting resources, overcrowding, and poor waste management.
Antarctica, known for its pristine environment, faces challenges as visitor numbers increase. Strict guidelines are in place to minimize impacts on the fragile ecosystem, but concerns persist about the continent’s ability to sustain growing tourism.
Isola Sacra near Rome is facing increased tourism pressure, with plans for a large port sparking controversy. Similarly, the Canary Islands have been struggling with overtourism issues, leading to protests against the negative impacts of tourism on the region.
