He shared his experience of working at Carson Pegasus Provincial Park, where he serves as the maintenance supervisor. On a particularly busy Sunday, after preparing over 120 camping sites for incoming visitors, Dupuis was looking forward to a relaxing evening with a barbecue.
Upon returning to his Winnebago, he was shocked to find that the steaks he had planned to cook for dinner were missing. Initially suspecting a nearby black bear, he soon realized that a smaller animal had infiltrated his camper through a hole in the window screen. Disappointed at losing his anticipated meal, Dupuis reflected on the importance of respecting wildlife in their natural habitat, despite his familiarity with forest creatures.
As he pondered the mystery of the missing steaks, Dupuis heard a growl emanating from beneath his bed. Taking cautious steps, he discovered a pine marten, a weasel-like creature, seeking refuge in his camper. After the unexpected encounter, the pine marten eventually retreated, allowing Dupuis to enjoy a simple meal and contemplate the untamed beauty of nature.
This amusing incident served as a reminder for Dupuis, highlighting the need to remain vigilant and appreciative of the wildlife that coexist in the wilderness. His encounter with the curious pine marten added an unexpected twist to his routine at Carson Pegasus Provincial Park.
