A young boy from Calgary who was rescued following a near-drowning incident in a British Columbia river is currently undergoing treatment in a hospital, with his family expressing concern over his damaged lungs. Nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after going underwater. Maria Warren, his mother, mentioned that bystanders at the beach acted swiftly to retrieve him from the water shortly after he went missing. According to a statement from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the boy was trapped against fallen debris by the river’s strong current before being rescued and administered CPR on the shore. Authorities estimate that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
Paul-Angelo is currently receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, with his family maintaining a constant presence at his side. Maria stressed the importance of being by her son’s side, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
