Must read

Brighton & Hove Albion has secured the services of Promise David for the upcoming Premier League season. The Canadian striker will join the team on a season-long loan from Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium, with a reported obligation to buy clause set at $29.7 million US, contingent upon certain criteria being met.

Union Saint-Gilloise confirmed that David will be making his Premier League debut starting next season, for a record fee for the club. David arrives at Brighton following a successful stint at Union, where he netted 41 goals in 82 appearances and contributed to the club’s first league title win in 90 years back in 2025. He extended his contract with Union through June 2029 last year.

The 25-year-old forward, who hails from Brampton, Ontario, represented Canada at the recent World Cup, scoring a goal despite limited playing time due to a hip injury. With four goals in 14 senior national team appearances, David has also played for Nigeria’s under-23 squad before switching allegiance to Canada approved by FIFA in 2025.

Having previously played in Croatia, Malta, and Estonia, David’s move to Belgium in July 2024 marked another chapter in his diverse career. Brighton’s Sporting Director, Mike Cave, expressed his excitement about David’s arrival, highlighting his striking prowess, physical abilities, and experience at both international and European levels, believing he will be a valuable asset to the team as they aim to build on their eighth-place finish in the previous Premier League season.
