Alanis Morissette Sues Former Tour Manager for Extortion

Must read

Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of attempting to extort her into signing a long-term contract by threatening to falsely accuse her of drug trafficking. Morissette filed a lawsuit in California, claiming that Keren Urinov demanded a 15-year employment contract as a tour director with substantial compensation, or else she would report Morissette to British authorities for drug trafficking.

The dispute arose during Morissette’s 2025 world tour, where Urinov, previously associated with Live Nation’s Israeli operations, worked as a temporary tour manager. Allegedly, at an airport in the U.K., Urinov was arrested after a bag she claimed ownership of was found to contain marijuana and xylazine, but she was later released after presenting her Israeli medical marijuana license.

Following the tour, Urinov purportedly sent threatening letters to Morissette and her team, demanding the lengthy contract and other benefits under the threat of legal action. The lawsuit also mentioned instances where Morissette found Urinov’s management inadequate, including a costly error with a hotel booking and Urinov’s alleged past involvement in drug smuggling in Latin America.

Morissette stated that she had no choice but to sue Urinov, refusing to be coerced into a long-term arrangement with someone she deemed incompetent and a blackmailer. She is seeking a trial by jury in this legal matter. CBC News has attempted to reach out to Urinov and Morissette’s representatives for comment but has not received a response yet.
