A heartless babysitter has been sentenced to life in prison for causing the death of a toddler by throwing him against a wall. Kimora Hodges inflicted severe head injuries on 22-month-old Kyrie Starks by repeatedly striking him, resulting in a seizure that ultimately led to his demise. Hodges, 24, faced charges of first-degree child abuse and felony murder after Kyrie passed away in the hospital a week following the incident.
During a trial in Michigan, US, it was revealed that Hodges had been caring for Kyrie intermittently for his neighbor, Taylor Starks. The situation turned violent in June 2022 when Hodges called Taylor Starks to report that Kyrie was unwell but did not seek immediate medical help. Despite emergency medical intervention, Kyrie could not be saved, and Hodges was swiftly apprehended for causing the fatal head injury.
Following her arrest, Hodges made incriminating statements during questioning by Detective Sergeant Menas Houstoulakis. The admissibility of some of her statements was later challenged in court, leading to a ruling by the state Court of Appeals. Subsequently, Hodges was sentenced to life in prison for murder and an additional 15 to 40 years for first-degree child abuse.
During the court proceedings, Taylor Starks expressed forgiveness towards Hodges but also emphasized the lack of accountability shown by the perpetrator. Despite her efforts to find peace and forgiveness, Starks highlighted the absence of genuine remorse from Hodges for the tragic incident.
