Hidden Burial Ground Discovered Near Cancun; 16 Bodies Found

Must read

Mexican authorities have uncovered a hidden burial ground near the popular tourist destination of Cancun, where the bodies of at least 16 individuals have been found. The discovery was made in the town of Leona Vicario, located 26 miles west of Cancun.

The remains, which have not yet been identified, were discovered in 10 different locations within the site, concealed beneath layers of cement and quicklime. Quintana Roo’s attorney general, Raciel Lopez Salazar, stated that there may be additional victims, as five other areas of forensic interest are still being investigated.

While such grave sites are not uncommon in regions like Jalisco, Michoacan, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz, they are unusual in Quintana Roo, a state known primarily for its tourism industry. Mexico currently has over 133,000 reported missing persons, with a significant number having disappeared in the past two decades.
