A man named Anthony Williams, aged 32, faces charges in connection with a violent incident on a train in Huntington that resulted in eleven people sustaining injuries. The British Transport Police (BTP) announced that Williams, residing on Langford Road in Peterborough, has been charged with ten counts of attempted murder, one count of actual bodily harm, and one count of possession of a bladed article following the knife assault that occurred on Saturday. Additionally, he faces charges related to another incident at Pontoon Dock DLR station in London on November 1.

The attack took place on the 6:25pm LNER service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, where eleven passengers were injured before the train made an emergency stop in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. BTP reported that within eight minutes of the officers’ arrival, two individuals were apprehended on the train, with one of them being subdued by police using a Taser due to wielding a knife.

Following the incident, eleven victims received medical treatment, with four individuals discharged from the hospital, while two, including a courageous train employee, remained in critical condition as of Sunday morning. Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy emphasized the priority placed on the criminal investigation and victim support by the British Transport Police.

Tracy Easton, chief crown prosecutor for CPS Direct, stated that Anthony Williams is facing charges including 11 counts of attempted murder, one count of assault causing actual bodily harm, and two counts of possession of a bladed article in connection with the train incident. The decision to prosecute was made following collaboration with British Transport Police, extensive evidence review including CCTV footage, and consideration of public interest. The number of charges may be subject to change as the case progresses.

The devastating impact of the train incident on Saturday has resonated across the country, and the thoughts of the authorities remain with all those affected.
