In response to increasing incidents of e-scooter-related injuries, organizations like the Canadian Pediatric Society and Parachute Canada emphasize the need for stricter safety measures, including restricting children under 16 from operating these vehicles. The survey highlighted head injuries as the most common type of injury from e-scooter accidents.
Experts like Pamela Fuselli and Julia Kent emphasize the urgency of implementing regulations to mitigate risks associated with e-scooter usage. Kent noted the challenges of regulating “micro-mobility vehicles” as their popularity outpaces legislative frameworks, leading to more severe injuries compared to traditional biking accidents.
