Reform UK Councilor Faces Suspension Over Immigration Remarks

Must read

Following controversial remarks on immigration, a Reform UK councilor faces suspension. Lancashire County Council’s Councilor Tom Pickup was suspended after messages attributed to him were publicized by Reform Party UK Exposed, allegedly supporting mass deportations.

In leaked WhatsApp conversations, Pickup, identified as “Tom,” seemed to endorse the idea of mass deportations and hinted at an undisclosed hardline stance on immigration within the party. He suggested that a more detailed immigration policy would soon be revealed to the public, emphasizing the need for strategic approaches to gain political support.

The Labour Party in the county condemned the comments, labeling them “despicable” and raising concerns about Reform UK’s selection of representatives. They demanded an explanation from Reform UK and urged an apology to the people of Lancashire for the controversy.

Reform UK made headlines with the suspension of nine councilors in Kent County Council, shortly after winning a majority. The incident coincides with allegations against Nigel Farage, the party leader, regarding past racist and antisemitic remarks, which he denies.

Councilor Pickup welcomed the suspension, expressing eagerness for the truth to emerge through the investigation. Reform UK has been contacted for further comments.
