Hundreds of households in Surrey may receive £300 worth of supermarket vouchers as part of support for the cost of living. This initiative is provided by Surrey County Council through the Household Support Fund, designed to assist vulnerable families. Residents can apply for the Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme if they are facing challenges in purchasing food and essentials.
The vouchers are redeemable at various supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose. To be eligible for the scheme, residents in Surrey must be over 18 years old, have household savings below £2,000 on average over a 90-day period, and an annual household income under £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions.
Applicants need to provide details of their income and household benefits received. Applications for the vouchers open monthly, with the next round available starting from February 3. If the current month’s application window is missed, reapplication is possible from March 2. Those outside Surrey who require support are advised to contact their local council for assistance.
Nottingham City Council, for instance, is offering £100 vouchers to individuals with low income or on benefits, with distribution ongoing until February 28, 2026. The council will randomly allocate 10,000 vouchers to successful households, allowing previous recipients to reapply.
Similarly, Wakefield Council is distributing food vouchers to low-income households receiving council tax assistance. Pensioners under Council Tax Support already received a £70 voucher in November, with additional vouchers planned for other households.
Council Tax Support beneficiaries will receive a £50 voucher starting December 15, while the remaining households will receive a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12. Blackpool Council is providing £200 energy assistance to qualifying households of one or two people and £300 to larger households, including children.
To qualify for these supports, individuals must demonstrate financial hardship and bill payment challenges, submitting recent bank statements for all household members.
