Thorpe Park has announced that a popular area, Amity Beach, will not be reopening for the 2026 season. Instead, it will be replaced by a new section called The Launchpad, designed as a recharge zone for thrillseekers to relax and refuel between rides. Amity Beach, which featured a fake beach and a splash park, first opened in 1991 and was a favorite spot due to its proximity to the park entrance.
As part of the transformation, the larger side of Amity Beach will be closed, while the smaller side will remain open for families to enjoy. Additionally, the popular waterslide, Depth Charge, will return for the upcoming season. Thorpe Park shared nostalgic pictures of Amity Beach, showcasing past events and celebrity visits, including Princess Diana and a young Prince Harry enjoying the rides.
The Launchpad area, set to open near major rollercoasters, will feature seating areas, shaded spots, and a vibrant design. Thorpe Park, established in 1979, is known for its thrilling rides like Hyperia, Stealth, The Swarm, SAW-The Ride, Nemesis Inferno, and Colossus. The park will reopen on March 27, 2026, with tickets starting at £32 for individuals over 1.2 meters tall when purchased online in advance. Children under 1.2 meters can enter for free. Visitors can also opt for overnight stays in Thorpe Shark Cabins, which include theme park access, parking, and breakfast.
