Anthony Joshua Escapes Fatal Crash in Nigeria

Two individuals lost their lives immediately in the accident involving the vehicle carrying Anthony Joshua, as per eyewitness accounts. Joshua was rushed to a hospital in Nigeria for treatment following the tragic incident.

Reports indicate that Joshua’s SUV was being trailed by his security team and that bystanders swiftly intervened to help after the collision. The crash occurred when the SUV collided with a stationary truck near Makun on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun state.

It has been stated that Joshua’s vehicle swerved out of control after a tire blowout, leading to the accident. Local authorities, including the Ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement agency, are investigating the incident involving Joshua.

An observer, Adeniyi Orojo, recounted to Punch newspaper that the convoy consisted of two vehicles, a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated in the rear, with another person beside him, and two more occupants in the Lexus that crashed. Orojo mentioned that the security detail was in the following vehicle. Sadly, the passenger next to the driver and the individual beside Joshua succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

Mirror Sport interviewed Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, who learned about the crash while vacationing in the Caribbean. Hearn confirmed that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital but had limited information at the time.

Joshua, who was in Nigeria, where his parents are from, recently defeated Jake Paul in a boxing match. He was born in England and won an Olympic gold medal for the United Kingdom but often proudly displays the Nigerian flag.

After the victorious fight with Paul, Joshua hinted at big plans for 2026 and reignited his rivalry with Tyson Fury. He expressed gratitude to his supporters on Instagram and teased upcoming events, emphasizing unity and blessings in the New Year.
