Must read

EE has unveiled an upgraded version of its Scam Guard service to combat the increasing threat of scams in the UK. The latest figures reveal that a significant amount of money is lost daily due to cybercriminals employing various tactics to deceive individuals into disclosing sensitive information.

The enhanced Scam Guard is now accessible to all EE pay-monthly mobile subscribers for a monthly fee of £2, offering improved protection against fraudulent activities. Despite the additional cost, EE assures customers that the upgraded service delivers significantly enhanced security.

Since its initial launch in 2024, the Scam Guard service has successfully thwarted 169 million scam and spam attempts. With the latest iteration, EE anticipates doubling this number within the next year.

The core of the updated Scam Guard is the AI Triple-Lock Protection system, featuring three key components powered by Norton’s Genie AI technology. Safe Email provides continuous scam monitoring for email accounts, while Safe SMS employs advanced AI to identify and block sophisticated scams in text messages. Additionally, Safe Web utilizes AI to safeguard users from malicious websites during online activities.

Moreover, the new Scam Guard upgrade introduces Scam Assistant, enabling customers to receive instant guidance by uploading screenshots of suspicious texts, emails, websites, or social media messages. It also includes Social Media Monitoring and Dark Web Monitoring to detect and alert users of any suspicious online behavior promptly.

Malcolm Cubitt, Director of Product, Mobile at EE, emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving cyber threats. He highlighted EE’s commitment to customer protection through innovative solutions such as the enhanced Scam Guard service, aimed at providing advanced cybersecurity measures to combat the rising incidence of fraud in the UK.
