“Heroic Football Fan Disarms Train Knifeman”

Must read

A man hailed as a hero for intervening in a train stabbing incident near Huntingdon station described his actions as something anyone would do. Stephen Crean, a Nottingham Forest supporter returning from a game, was on a train from Doncaster to London King’s Cross when chaos erupted as a passenger brandished a knife.

Upon hearing passengers’ alarmed cries, Crean found himself face-to-face with the assailant. Despite sustaining injuries to his hands and lower body, he managed to disarm the man and seek refuge in a train restroom until reaching Huntingdon station.

Following the harrowing ordeal, Crean received medical treatment for his wounds but remains modest about his actions, downplaying any heroics. Notably, despite offers of financial assistance from Nottingham Forest’s owner, Crean declined, believing others may need it more.

As he recuperates, Crean expresses determination to return to supporting his beloved football team, unfazed by the incident. Meanwhile, the suspect, Anthony Williams, faces multiple charges related to the attack, with several victims still hospitalized, including two in critical condition.
