Nathan, the husband of a beloved mother who tragically passed away, has revealed his plans to commemorate her first death anniversary. Emily Moss, a cherished figure known for her generosity, succumbed to sudden heart failure in November 2024 in Burnage, Greater Manchester, shortly after dropping off their four-year-old daughter at a dance class.
In remembrance of his late wife, Nathan, aged 34, will undertake the challenge of climbing Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa standing at 13,671 feet. His goal is to raise funds for Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS), a charity where Emily had previously worked.
Discussing Emily’s heart condition, peripartum cardiomyopathy, Nathan shared, “When she gave birth to Isobel, we discovered she had this heart condition. It was a challenging period for us as we transitioned from a couple to parents, compounded by Emily’s health issue. Despite being managed with medication, her sudden passing in August caught us off guard.”
Recounting the tragic event, Nathan explained that Emily collapsed at home after returning from their daughter’s dance class. He was working in Birmingham when he received the news and rushed to Greater Manchester, sensing the gravity of the situation upon arrival.
Reflecting on Emily’s funeral, which drew a crowd of around 300 attendees, Nathan highlighted the outpouring of support and love for his late wife. He described Emily as a giving individual who always prioritized helping others, a trait he now aims to embody in her honor.
Nathan reminisced about their relationship, having met in high school and married in 2018 with plans for expanding their family. To preserve Emily’s memory, he is fundraising for TDAS to support victims of domestic violence, an endeavor that has already garnered significant donations through his GoFundMe campaign.
As he prepares to climb Mount Toubkal with his friend, Nathan acknowledged the emotional challenge of the upcoming weeks, marked by his birthday, their anniversary, and Emily’s death anniversary. He sees this initiative as a meaningful way to honor her legacy and support a cause close to her heart.
In addition to the fundraising efforts, Nathan intends to surprise their daughter, Isobel, and her cousins with a trip to Disneyland as a special gesture over the weekend commemorating Emily’s passing.
