In the UK, the city known for its abundance of pubs has been revealed, nestled in a picturesque region featuring charming inns and picturesque landscapes. Despite a challenging year for the pub industry, a report from UK Hospitality has raised concerns about the potential closure of six venues daily without adequate support, surpassing the 2025 closure numbers significantly. The British Beer and Pub Association has highlighted the need for pubs to sell an additional 1.3 billion pints of beer annually to counteract rising taxes.
While the outlook may seem dim, there are still numerous exceptional pubs scattered throughout the nation, with some areas experiencing a thriving pub culture. According to an analysis by The Mirror’s data team, the Derbyshire Dales boast the highest concentration of pubs in England and Wales, with a total of 152 establishments within its boundaries, equating to 25 pubs per 10,000 adults residing in the area.
Following closely behind, Westminster ranks next in terms of pubs relative to its adult population, with 407 pubs translating to 23 per 10,000 resident adults. Powys follows suit with 23 pubs per 10,000 adults across its 259 establishments. Subsequently, Pembrokeshire offers 21 pubs per 10,000 adults, while four council areas, including Westmorland and Furness, North Yorkshire, Gwynedd, and Ceredigion, each have 18 pubs per 10,000 adults.

Outside of London, Liverpool holds the highest pub density, with 502 establishments equating to nearly 12 pubs per square mile. Manchester, Portsmouth, Blackpool, Norwich, Brighton, and Bristol also feature significant pub concentrations per square mile, reflecting the diverse pub landscape across England and Wales.
