“Beauty Bay Faces Potential Collapse as Administrators Loom”

Must read

Online beauty retailer, Beauty Bay, is facing potential collapse as it has initiated the process to appoint administrators. This action signifies the company’s move towards administration and enacts a temporary legal protection that prevents creditors from taking legal actions for ten days.

Reports from Sky News indicate that the notice to appoint administrators was submitted earlier this week. In response, Beauty Bay has temporarily taken down its website, displaying a message stating, “We’ll Be Back Soon. BEAUTY BAY is offline right now, we’ll be back shortly.”

Established in 1999 by brothers Arron and David Gabbie in Manchester, Beauty Bay offers over 200 brands on its platform, including popular names like Ariana Grande, Clinique, and MAC, alongside its own product line.

This development follows previous reports that Beauty Bay was exploring various funding options, potentially including a complete sale of the business. Interpath, an advisory firm, was reportedly collaborating with Beauty Bay to conduct a comprehensive business review. The company, which employs 65 individuals, has not yet provided a public comment on the situation.

In a parallel scenario, fashion retailer Quiz has also fallen into administration, resulting in the loss of 109 jobs. Redundancies are occurring at the company’s head office in Glasgow and warehouse in Lanarkshire. The Quiz website has been deactivated, and customers with pending online orders are informed that these orders will be canceled.

Quiz is advising customers to seek refunds from their banks or credit card providers. Those who made purchases exceeding £100 on a credit card may be eligible for a refund under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act. Customers who paid with a debit card or spent less than £100 on a credit card may explore the Chargeback option within 120 days of the purchase date.

Despite these challenges, Quiz stores remain operational, with the company planning clearance sales across its branches. However, the retailer is no longer accepting gift cards. With 40 stores across the UK and concessions in New Look and Matalan outlets, Quiz’s concessions within these stores are not part of the administration proceedings.
