Business Secretary Peter Kyle has accused Nigel Farage of embodying the political ideology of Enoch Powell in contemporary times. Kyle criticized the Reform UK leader during a speech at the Co-operative Party conference, emphasizing the importance of economic growth for building trust in democracy and government. He warned that without sustained economic progress, far-right parties like Reform UK could gain traction by promoting disruption and division. Kyle drew parallels between Farage and past far-right figures like Enoch Powell, known for his controversial “rivers of blood” speech in 1968. This is not the first time Kyle has clashed with Farage, previously challenging him on issues such as the Online Safety Act. The Co-operative Party, in alliance with Labour, also heard from Communities Secretary Steve Reed, who emphasized the need to unite communities for collective success.
