Around 150 corgis gathered for a global event celebrating the small herding dogs that originated in Wales. The fifth Corgi Race Vilnius took place in Lithuania’s Vingis Park, attracting participants from nine countries, including the United States, Britain, Germany, and more. The event featured various competitions such as a costume parade, the “smartest nose” challenge, and a contest for the loudest bark.
Organizer Edvinas Miskas noted the significant growth of the event, with 150 corgis participating from different countries. The final race, covering 25 meters, saw American corgi GG, also known as Gustave the Girl Dog, emerge as the winner, followed closely by Mr. Corgington from the US and Lithuania’s Moka.
Aside from the speed race, various activities showcased the talents of the dogs and their owners. The event included a costume parade with creative outfits, a “smartest nose” challenge where dogs searched for hidden treats, and a competition for the loudest bark, won by Mr. Corgington.
Notably, the competition featured a 12-year-old Pembroke Welsh corgi named Duke from England, who, due to his age, participated in the loudest bark contest. The event attracted a mix of newcomers and veteran corgis, with some dogs having attended every edition of the race in Vilnius.
