Darts player Dom Taylor has publicly apologized for deceitfully concealing his drug use and also opened up about the tragic loss of his daughter. The 27-year-old shared a heartfelt statement on Facebook following his removal from the PDC World Championship.
The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) disclosed that Taylor received a positive drug test result from December 14 and was subsequently suspended from the tournament. Despite triumphing over Oskar Lukasiak in a 3-0 victory, Taylor, a native of Bristol, had his prize money withheld due to the suspension. His second-round opponent, Jonny Clayton, advanced to the third round after the Christmas break.
Expressing regret for his behavior, Taylor admitted to a previous failed drug test before the 2025 Ally Pally tournament. He confessed to misleading others, including himself, and emphasized his remorse in a statement, acknowledging the impact of his past trauma.
Detailing the hardships he faced during his teenage years, Taylor attributed his struggles to unresolved emotional turmoil. He mentioned incidents such as discovering his deceased nan at a young age and losing a close friend to a brain tumor. Despite seeking counseling in the past, Taylor admitted he should have sought further help.
Taylor expressed his deep regret for disappointing his family, friends, sponsors, and fans, vowing to seek assistance following the holiday season. He recognized the need to address his mental health issues and the reliance on substances to cope with personal challenges.
In closing, Taylor acknowledged his mistakes, apologized for his actions, and assured his supporters that he intends to return stronger after seeking the necessary support.
