A distressed mother was shocked to come across what she believed to be her son’s preserved body at a museum exhibition. Kim Erick, aged 54, had a harrowing experience during her visit to the Real Bodies exhibit in Las Vegas. Convinced that the displayed body was that of her son, she was deeply disturbed to see it “skinned” and displayed for public viewing.
Despite Kim’s certainty, the museum denied any connection to her son. Law enforcement authorities also confirmed that they had thoroughly investigated her son Chris’s passing and found no evidence of foul play. Nevertheless, Kim remained steadfast in her belief that there was a dark aspect to her son’s death and its alleged display in the museum.
Recounting the moment she first saw the body, Kim expressed the intense pain she felt, describing it as an excruciating experience for her and her family. She pleaded for DNA testing to be conducted on the body to verify if it truly belonged to her son.
Kim highlighted the deep bond she shared with Chris and the devastation she faced when he passed away in 2012. Despite being informed by the police that Chris had peacefully passed in his sleep, Kim was unsettled by the lack of funeral arrangements and suspected foul play. Subsequently, revelations of cyanide poisoning in Chris’s system fueled Kim’s conviction that he was murdered.
While a murder investigation was initiated in 2014, it yielded no evidence supporting foul play, ultimately concluding that Chris’s death was likely a suicide. Kim, however, persisted in her belief that her son was killed and has continued to advocate for further investigation and evidence to support her claims.
In 2018, Kim came across the Real Bodies exhibit and identified a body that she believes to be her son, noting similarities in injuries. She pointed out the absence of Chris’s tattoos on the displayed body, suggesting an attempt to conceal its identity. Despite her requests to claim the remains, the exhibition authorities stated that the bodies were sourced from China and cannot be identified.
Imagine Exhibitions, Inc., the owner of Real Bodies, responded to the allegations, expressing sympathy towards the family but refuting any factual basis for the claims. The company emphasized the ethical sourcing and biological unidentifiability of the specimens on display, maintaining adherence to high ethical and legal standards.
