“New Historic Train Station Opens in Essex Town”

Must read

Railway enthusiasts and historians are eagerly anticipating the unveiling of the first new train station on the Eastern main line in a century in a town in Essex. Beaulieu Park marks a significant milestone as the initial station to open on this section of the UK network since the 1920s, drawing attention from train enthusiasts and spotters.

The £175 million station’s early opening, four months ahead of schedule, is generating excitement among passengers. The inaugural train is scheduled to arrive at 7:20 am on Sunday, with some travelers already securing tickets for the Colchester to London Liverpool St service to be part of this historic moment at the new stop.

One passenger, Andy Cross, expressed his enthusiasm, stating his desire to be part of this historic event and predicting a strong presence of photographers at Beaulieu Park to capture the occasion. The station is part of a green initiative project near Chelmsford, offering a convenient and reliable service with up to four trains per hour during peak times and two trains per hour in off-peak periods.

Local officials, including Martin Beable from Greater Anglia and Councillor Louise McKinlay from Essex County Council, have lauded the station’s potential to enhance travel in the region and boost infrastructure-supported growth. The new station is expected to alleviate congestion at Chelmsford’s existing station, benefitting the Beaulieu and Channels neighborhoods and the larger Chelmsford Garden Community development.

With over 4,350 homes already approved as part of the Garden Community, including the Beaulieu Square Neighbourhood Centre and the Beaulieu Park School, the station is poised to facilitate access to jobs, stimulate economic progress, and attract further investments. Beable anticipates high demand for travel services from this part of Essex, underscoring the station’s anticipated popularity among commuters.
