An investigation into a homicide has been initiated following the tragic death of a woman, leading to a significant police presence across various locations in Nottinghamshire where separate cordons have been established.

Following a late-night call regarding a person’s safety in Carlton, a 40-year-old man has been taken into custody. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and unfortunately found a woman in her 20s deceased.

Authorities have now classified the case as a murder investigation and are appealing to potential witnesses to provide any relevant information. Forensic teams have been deployed to the scene and are currently conducting examinations.

Multiple cordons are currently in place at Westdale Lane East, Carlton, Westdale Lane West (the location of the incident), and Mapperley and Oxclose Lane, Bestwood. Police have reassured the public that there is no immediate danger, describing the event as an “isolated incident.”

Detective Inspector Stuart Barson, in charge of the inquiry, expressed condolences to the woman’s family and friends and highlighted ongoing support from trained personnel. He urged anyone present in the vicinity before, during, or after the incident, as well as those with potential video recordings, to come forward.

To maintain public safety, additional police patrols have been deployed in the area, with assurances that the incident is contained and poses no broader risk to the community.
