Must read

Chilling video footage captures the moment when Mohammed Umar Khan entered a school premises before fatally stabbing 15-year-old Harvey Willgoose. The disturbing video shows Khan calmly walking into All Saints Catholic School in Sheffield in February, wearing a coat and carrying a hunting knife.

Khan roamed the school building until he had a confrontation with Harvey in the presence of other students. Despite Harvey’s composed demeanor, Khan proceeded to stab him twice in the chest during the lunch break. Khan, whose identity can now be disclosed following the removal of reporting restrictions, had previously admitted to manslaughter but denied the charge of murder. However, a jury found him guilty by a majority verdict of 11 to one.

At Sheffield Crown Court, Khan was sentenced to a minimum of 16 years for the murder. Judge Mrs. Justice Ellenbogen stated that Khan’s actions stemmed from feelings of hurt and anger towards what he perceived as Harvey’s betrayal of their friendship. She dismissed Khan’s claims of self-defense or fear, emphasizing that Harvey’s remarks did not justify the violent attack.

During the sentencing, Khan remained impassive in the dock while an intermediary assisted him with notes. Harvey’s parents, Mark and Caroline, observed from the public gallery, alongside Khan’s family. Mrs. Justice Ellenbogen expressed certainty that Khan had premeditated the attack, highlighting his history of carrying weapons and the aggravating circumstances of the offense occurring on school grounds with numerous witnesses present.

The judge concluded that Khan had made a deliberate decision to use the knife on Harvey, reflecting on the seriousness of the incident and the impact on the school community.
