Tragedy in Alps: 3 Dead, 2 Missing in Avalanche

Three tourists lost their lives, and two others are missing following an avalanche that struck the Alps. The tragic incident occurred on Cima Vertana in the Ortles Mountain range in Italy’s South Tyrol region around 4pm.

Rescue efforts are currently underway to locate the two missing members of the ski mountaineering group. A search operation involving helicopter rescue teams and firefighters is in progress.

The victims, a 30-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman, and a 50-year-old man, were caught in the avalanche while climbing. Their bodies were recovered by rescue teams after being swept away.

Reports suggest that the avalanche occurred suddenly, trapping two climbers under debris and causing minor injuries. The situation is still unfolding as authorities continue their search and rescue operations.
