“Vodafone Unveils 5G Wi-Fi Router for Fast, Mobile Internet”

Must read

Vodafone has introduced a new method for internet connectivity. Instead of relying on traditional copper or fiber optic cables, the company’s latest Wi-Fi router operates using a 5G mobile network to download files and stream videos.

This innovative approach caters to households without access to high-speed full fiber connections or those seeking a portable solution. The router’s mobility is beneficial for renters or students who frequently change residences.

Ease of installation is another advantage. Since it operates on Vodafone’s network, there’s no need for professional installation or drilling holes. Users can simply plug it in, power it up, and immediately access the internet.

It’s important to note that this system offers speeds up to 150Mbps, which is suitable for activities like streaming Netflix, sending emails, and working from home. However, it falls short of the speeds provided by full fiber connections, which can exceed 900Mbps.

For example, downloading a full HD movie using this 5G router would take about 8 minutes, compared to just 40 seconds with a fiber gigabit connection.

To assist consumers in selecting the most suitable option, Vodafone has launched an integrated availability checker on their website. By entering their postcode, customers can determine whether full fiber or 5G Broadband offers faster speeds in their area.

This isn’t Vodafone’s first venture into 5G internet access. They previously offered the GigaCube device, which has now been replaced by this new router.

Rob Winterschladen, Consumer Director at VodafoneThree, emphasized the importance of providing fast and reliable broadband to households currently underserved by slower connections. Vodafone’s 5G Broadband aims to offer a speedy alternative with easy setup and affordability.

In addition to Vodafone, Three, now part of Vodafone, also provides a similar service. Vodafone’s plans start at £21 per month, while Three’s home broadband is currently priced at £11 for the initial nine months.
