“Father Claims Innocence in Baby’s Death Trial”

Must read

Klevi Pirjani, 37, facing accusations of mistreating and causing the death of his three-month-old son, claimed in court that he was an exceptional father. Pirjani and his wife, Nivalda Santos Pirjani, are standing trial at Liverpool Crown Court for the alleged murder of their son, Miguel, who suffered fatal injuries last year. Medical reports revealed Miguel had severe injuries, including a fractured skull, brain bleeding, and multiple broken bones of different ages.

The prosecution claims that the parents abused Miguel before his death, with the mother admitting to a charge of causing or allowing the child’s death. Pirjani, a former chef and digger driver, testified in court, expressing deep concern for his son’s health and denying any involvement in causing his injuries. Emergency services responded to the family’s residence in Wirral promptly when Miguel went into cardiac arrest, leading to his hospitalization at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

Doctors confirmed Miguel’s critical condition, with various injuries indicating a pattern of abuse. Despite extensive medical efforts, Miguel’s injuries proved irreversible, and he passed away after life support was withdrawn. Pirjani, originally from Albania, shared his emotional backstory of familial loss and migration to the UK. He described his relationship with his wife as initially strong but mentioned her behavioral changes over time.

Pirjani refuted allegations of violence towards his wife and son, emphasizing his dedication to Miguel’s well-being. He recounted the moments leading up to Miguel’s distress on the night of the incident, highlighting his efforts to seek medical help promptly. The court heard conflicting testimonies from Nivalda Pirjani, who portrayed Klevi as abusive, while he maintained his innocence and questioned the accusations against him.

The prosecution argued that the injuries sustained by Miguel were deliberate and inflicted by both parents. Despite their denials, both Klevi Pirjani and Nivalda Santos Pirjani face charges of murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. The trial, overseen by Justice Baker, is ongoing as further evidence is presented.
