Must read

A weather system named Storm Benjamin is posing a significant risk to life as it is expected to bring wind gusts of up to 70mph to eight counties in the UK. The storm, currently located over northern Spain, is forecasted to reach the UK by 6pm today.

British Weather Services has issued an uncommon Amber weather warning for Thursday due to the severe conditions anticipated. According to senior meteorologist Jim Dale, the wind speeds could reach 60 to 70mph in certain areas, posing a threat to life. The storm is expected to move across southern England, affecting regions such as East Anglia, Essex, Kent, and parts of London.

While the storm progresses, the strongest winds are expected to be in the southeast of the UK, with gusts likely to peak in the morning hours. The Met Office has mentioned that Friday will bring a mix of sunny intervals and heavy, blustery showers, with persistent strong winds, especially along coastal areas.

Following Storm Benjamin, a colder period is expected over the weekend as Arctic Maritime air flows southward. This change in weather will bring a combination of sunshine and blustery showers, potentially turning wintry over Scottish mountain peaks. Sunday may offer temporary drier and brighter conditions before rain returns later in the day.
