A new fashion trend is emerging with clothes infused with beneficial bacteria. This unique collection, including leggings, bodysuits, and tops, is priced between £150 and £180 each. The clothing, created by Paris-based brand Coperni in collaboration with Swiss biotech experts, is designed to improve the skin’s protective barrier and promote a natural glow.
The garments contain approximately 140,000 live, friendly bacteria cells per gram of stretch fabric, which gradually interact with the skin when worn. Marketed under the name Carewear, the collection is intended to offer more than just style; it aims to provide care and support for the wearer’s well-being.
Coperni’s founders, Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer, emphasize the importance of clothing as a supportive element for the skin, highlighting the significance of the unseen benefits that garments can offer. The brand’s innovative approach extends beyond fashion, focusing on enhancing self-care and promoting a mindful lifestyle.
The materials used in the collection underwent meticulous design processes to ensure comfort and were dermatologically tested for human skin compatibility. Coperni is known for its unconventional releases, such as the previous collaboration with Fabrican, where model Bella Hadid appeared on the runway covered in a white outfit created on the spot.
In another bold move, the brand’s Fall Winter 2023 show featured robot dogs assisting models in changing outfits, exploring the blend of technology and humanity. Additionally, the collection showcased bags crafted from a 55,000-year-old lunar meteorite and utilized high-temperature glassblowing techniques in collaboration with New York glass brand HEVƎN.
Celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Billie Eilish, Hailey Bieber, Megan Fox, Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Doja Cat, and Sydney Sweeney have been spotted wearing Coperni’s designs. The brand continues to push boundaries in the fashion industry, aligning with other innovators like Kim Kardashian’s Skims brand, known for its unconventional releases.
