Must read

A father devastated by grief expressed his willingness to trade places with his daughter who passed away just before her birthday in a heartfelt tribute. Olivia Grace Edwards, aged 8, fell ill at Kingwells park and ride in Aberdeen around 8:40 pm on Saturday. Despite swift action by emergency responders, Olivia was taken to the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Mark, the distressed father at 40, shared his profound sorrow online, articulating his profound loss and desire to switch places with his beloved daughter. He conveyed, “I have no easy way to say this, but on Saturday we suddenly lost our baby girl. Words cannot capture the shattered state of our family right now. I’d do anything to trade places with my beautiful girl who would have turned 9 today. All I can request is for people to be understanding during this difficult time as we navigate through this.”

The Kingswells School Parent Teacher Association and Parent Council also expressed their condolences, acknowledging the pain felt by Olivia’s family and friends during this trying period. A Police Scotland spokesperson reported the incident, indicating that Olivia’s death is being treated as unexplained with no suspicious circumstances apparent.

In a bid to aid Olivia’s parents, Mark and Georgia, in covering unforeseen funeral expenses, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by family friend Kathryn Campbell. The fundraiser aims to alleviate financial burdens, stating, “My amazing best friends have lost their beautiful baby girl unexpectedly just one day before her 9th birthday. Her parents, sisters, family, and friends are all in deep sorrow. Olivia was a delightful, humorous, kind, and remarkable little girl who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Please consider supporting to ensure she receives a fitting farewell.”

The exact cause of Olivia’s passing remains unknown. She is survived by her parents, Mark and Georgina, and her sisters Nieve and Hollie. Online tributes continue to pour in, with many expressing condolences and heartfelt messages. The fundraiser has received an overwhelming response, with donations nearing the £16,000 target as of Monday morning.
