Freely, a rising contender in the UK TV market, has quickly gained traction since its introduction in 2024, attracting over a million households. Offering an array of features and content enhancements, Freely now boasts more than 50 live channels that can be accessed without the need for traditional antennas or satellite dishes.
In an exciting development, Freely has unveiled its latest offering, the Freely Spotlight Channels, which will deliver additional entertainment options to viewers at no extra charge. These channels will be streamed exclusively through standard Wi-Fi connections, making them easily accessible to users.
The Freely Spotlight Channels are set to occupy channel slots 31, as well as channels 90 to 99, and will be accessible to CTV OS partners on Freely-enabled devices. V (formerly VIDAA), the company behind the VIDAA OS smart TV platform featured in Hisense televisions, has been announced as the primary launch partner. This collaboration will introduce a curated selection of V’s channels to the Freely TV Guide, aligning with Freely’s goal to offer diverse content options within the UK’s regulated TV landscape.
While specific channel content details are yet to be disclosed, more information is anticipated closer to the launch date. Deep Halder, Chief Commercial Officer at Everyone TV, expressed enthusiasm for the growth of Freely, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to providing long-term value and enhancing the viewing experience for UK audiences.
For those unfamiliar with Freely, it is operated by the same team responsible for Freeview and Freesat. The distinguishing feature of Freely is its delivery of content solely through broadband connections, eliminating the need for traditional TV equipment installations. To access Freely, households only require a compatible TV or set-top box and a stable Wi-Fi connection.
Presently, the platform offers a diverse selection of over 50 live channels, on-demand content, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the capability to pause live television.
