Ocado to Cut 1,000 Jobs, Save £150M

Must read

Ocado has announced intentions to cut approximately 1,000 jobs in a move aimed at saving £150 million. The online grocery retailer stated that the workforce reduction would impact about 5% of its employees, with the majority of the cuts affecting its UK operations, including the Ocado headquarters in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. The company plans to streamline its research and development by merging Ocado Solutions and Ocado Intelligent Automation into a single division.

Notably, the job cuts will not affect Ocado’s retail division. The decision was disclosed alongside the latest financial results, which showed a significant profit increase. Ocado reported a 12.1% rise in group revenue to £1.36 billion for the year ending November 30, 2025, with adjusted EBITDA climbing 59% to £178 million.

Tim Steiner, Ocado’s CEO, emphasized the company’s focus on strategic R&D investments to drive value creation and simplify operations amid global market expansions. He acknowledged the impact on employees, expressing gratitude for their contributions and ensuring support for those affected by the restructuring.

Founded in 2000 by Tim Steiner, Jason Gissing, and Jonathan Faiman, former Goldman Sachs employees, Ocado offers a wide range of products, including M&S food items and its own brand. To keep up with the latest news, consider selecting Daily Mirror as your ‘Preferred Source’ on Google News.
