A Food Basics store will soon replace a Metro grocery store in Ottawa’s South Keys area this autumn, leading to the elimination of numerous jobs for existing employees. The transition to Food Basics will not offer immediate job prospects to all current employees, as the store does not require meat cutters like Braganza. The United Food and Commercial Workers union negotiated on behalf of its members, securing enhanced severance benefits and job placement opportunities at the upcoming Food Basics establishment.
